Tour de Berne - CDM

Switzerland, May 13, 2007

World cup returns to Berne

The Women's World Cup returns to Switzerland for round five for the second year. The riders will face three laps of a mostly flat 28 km city circuit with two hills, one small and one challenging hill of 1 km in length, but the course is generally one for the sprinters. Following these three laps are two laps of 20.8 km in length with the same 1 km climb and a flat finish.

World Cup leader Nicole Cooke (Raleigh Lifeforce Creation) holds a commanding lead in the rankings ahead of Marianne Vos (Team DSB Bank). The World Champion, Vos started the season slow, but has been coming on strong as of late, having won Fleche Wallone World Cup in a commanding style. Vos' team-mate Adrie Visser, who won the Ronde van Drenthe round is in third. The Tour de Berne could be a time for 4th place Ina Teutenberg (T-Mobile) to move up, but the fast finishing German has been struggling to find her winning form this year.
