- Tom Stubbe (Chocolade Jacques - Topsport Vlaanderen) was in the original break, before being caught by the peloton.
- Suffering from a cold, Sébastien Rosseler (Quickstep - Innergetic) lost a lot of time on general classification.
- The peloton were forced to push hard on the lengthy stage.
- Belgian Nikolas Maes (Chocolade Jacques - Topsport Vlaanderen) took 28th place, over 50 seconds behind the winner.
- Riders struggle to the top of a short climb.

- Belgian Leif Hoste (Predictor - Lotto) lead home the first bunch, 13 seconds behind the Netherlands' Robert Gesink (Rabobank).
