   Okay kids - can you
say "Slippery when wet?" Greg Henderson (Health
Net) even rides the rainbow stripes. This Health Net rider
decided to go over the manhole full of water. '"Wow mom - the riders
all look like ants!" USPRO Road Champion Fred
Rodriguez (Aqua & Sapone/Caffee Mokambo) sports the Stars and Stripes,
and a broken left brake lever. Anyone who tries to break
away as much as Peter Lopinto (Ofoto) deserves to get his mug on Cyclingnews.
    Cheers! It wasn't warm enough
for a feed zone so riders had to bring everything they needed with them.
   Robbie Ventura (US Postal
Service p/b Berry Floor) rides the cobbles next to Jacob Rosenbarger (Jittery
    Joe's). Another attack from Ofoto
-- this time by Eric Saunders, followed by Vasilli Davidenko (Navigators Insurance).
   Chris Horner (Webcor)
takes his frustration out on the field by attacking hard early. '"Beer me!" Former USPRO Champion
Trent Klasna (Sierra Nevada) follows Antonio Cruz (US Postal Service p/b
Berry Floor) through the south loop of the course. Alex Candelario (Jelly
Belly p/b Aramark) shows his poker face as Henk Vogels (Navigators Insurance)
grimmaces in pain from a bad crash. Ivan Dominguez (Colavita)
keeps cool near the front of the field. The cavernous financial
district of New York offered streets ranging from wide to narrow, and
smooth to cobbled. Marty Nothstein (Navigators
Insurance) sits near the front, with Canadian National Champion Gord Fraser
(Health Net) in behind. Aaron Olsen (Colavita)
leads Siro Camponogara (Navigators Insurance) and Davide Frattini (Monex)
on a late break attempt. With the break caught,
Chris Horner (Webcor) breathes easy while Henk Vogels (Navigators Insurance)
continues to fight through pain. With his left brake lever
taped into place, Fred Rodriguez (Aqua & Sapone/Caffee Mokambo) needs
to grind the rear brake more through the turns. Ed Beamon, Navigators
director instructs his riders through the final laps. Chris Horner (Webcor)
puts the hammer down to create a break. A late but dangerous
break tries to escape the field. Ivan Dominguez (Colavita)
tries to make it into a winning move. Former elite road champion
Scottie Weiss (Subway-Express) attacks in the final laps. He didn't stay
away, but he did take home a $500 prime for his efforts. Greg Henderson (Health
Net p/b Maxxis) is shadowed by a damaged Fred Rodriguez (Aqua & Sapone/Caffee
    Mokambo). Across the line, it's
one-two Health Net - with Ivan Dominguez (Colavita/Bolla) clipping out
of his right pedal for third and Jonas Carney (Jelly Belly) in fourth. The three-man Health
Net train Henderson, Fraser and Godfrey celebrate their win. Greg Henderson (Health
Net p/b Maxxis) soaks in the cheers of the New York crowd. A less than functioning
front brake lever was one of many problems for Fred Rodriguez (Aqua &
Sapone/Caffee Mokambo) today. Fred Rodriguez (Aqua
& Sapone/Caffee Mokambo) gets congratulations from a fan. Images by Beth Seliga/www.3catsphoto.com
