Stage 1 - Sunday, July 6: Saint-Denis/Montgeron - Meaux, 168 km
Although the stage start will be at the Stade de France sports complex north of Paris in Saint-Denis, the peloton will then promenade south through the centre of Paris on this most historic stage of the centenary Tour.
At Montergon, where the first Tour commenced a century prior, in front of the Café Reveil Matin, the entire peloton will stop in commemoration of the first Tour de France start. Then Stage 1 starts for real, heading south through the farmlands and suburbs of Essone, then east to the Brie cheese city of Meaux, where sprinters will battle for the honours in this most prestigious of Tour stages.
