Prologue - Saturday July 6, 2002: Luxembourg ITT, 7 km

By Tim Maloney, European editor

Start and Finish of the Prologue, Stages 1 and 2 will be at Place du Glacis in the centre of Luxembourg City, with the first rider off at 4 pm and defending TDF champ Lance Armstrong last to go in the prologue at 7:08pm CET. Luxembourg City, a quaint fortified burg of 75,000 will offer a spectacular, technical up and down parcours for the prologue, where a true Prologue specialist cum acrobat like David Millar (Cofidis), Rik Verbrugghe (Lotto-Addeco), Dario Frigo (Tacconi Sport) or Brad McGee (FDJ) will be favoured, but the decider will likely be the last 2.7 km, which is all uphill.
