Zanotti and Hunt help Unibet to more success

The Unibet.com team is continuing its 2006 campaign on a strong note, with Italian sprinter Marco Zanotti winning the first stage of the Volta ao Algarve in a bunch sprint, just ahead of his teammate Jeremy Hunt. Third place went to Gerolsteiner's Markus Zberg.
The first stage of the five day Portuguese race was held over 172 km between Albufeira and Tavira, and contained just one Cat. 3 climb after 99 km. Patrik Sinkewitz (T-Mobile Team) and Christophe Mengin (Française Des Jeux) provided most of the breakaway action, but the sprinters' teams were always going to close it down for a bunch sprint. Unfortunately, with around three kilometres to go, there were two crashes that took down more than 10 riders, but that didn't prevent Unibet from lining up to win the stage.
Tomorrow's second stage is between Vila do Bispo and Lagos, over 173.5 km.
