Today's stage began with two first category climbs which the last remaining rider from Team Martinique, Olivier Ragot, used to show his jersey's colours in front. He scored the points on both summits, but by the second climb was joined by Alexandre Lecoq (UVMG), who was eager to consolidate his third place on GC.

Both men continued on, and the front chase group with Nicolas Dumont couldn't catch up. By km 60, their lead was up to 3'00. By that time, the damage caused by the two first climbs and the strong sidewinds afterwards was repaired and the peloton was together again. But soon enough, the bunch accelerated and with the wind turning in front, one of several chase groups finally made it to the front riders with Daniel Bernal (USL), the Polish rider Damien Wojciechowski, the German Marc Altmann, Belgium's Rik Kavsek, Canada's Alexandre Lavallée and one rider from a local team, Jacky Gibrien.

This breakaway worked well, and by the last kilometre, the peloton with the Yellow Jersey was still 0'50 away. Local Jacky Gibrien won the sprint, in which Kavsek and Lavallée crashed, but were not seriously hurt. Meanwhile, Alexandre Lecoq finished with the bunch; today's efforts were in vain. The top rankings on GC remain unchanged.
