Flober Peña Peña (LOFT) has taken over the yellow jersey in the Tour de la Guadeloupe after winning the sixth stage from Gourbeyre to Pointe-Noire. Peña Peña crossed the line 14 seconds clear of Venezuelan Miguel Ubeto (EDS) with Colombian Javier Guerero Gonzalez taking third in the same time. Peña Peña and Ubeto now occupy the first two spots on GC.

The stage began with a mountain points sprint and a long descent afterwards. As soon as the riders were on large, hilly roads, lots of breakaway attempts followed. Not one group really succeeded as there were some heavy tropical rainshowers and sidewinds. Only at km 86, just before a 3rd category climb, a group of 15 went off to take a 2'00 lead even after the descent. After completely splitting up into little groups, the peloton arrived at the foot of the last, 7 km long first category climb at km 119 in one piece, only to explode once more as the GC players set the pace.

Javier Guerrero Gonzalez (Excelsior) attacked and passed every single one of the scattered 15 escapists on his very impressive way up to the top. Of course, he was closely followed by Peña Peña, Ubeto and Dumont, with Alexandre Lecoq trying to defend his Yellow jersey. As soon as that the three riders caught up with Guerrero on the descent, Peña Peña continued on his own and crossed the line 0'14 ahead of the other three. Lecoq finished bravely at 1'40.

According to many observers, he small Colombian rider from LOFT/UVN, Flober Peña Peña, might well be the future GC winner with the main favourite and four-time winner Daniel Bernal now at 4'38. But it will still be a thrilling battle with Ubeto, Dumont and Lecoq being very close.
