The quick final 1000 metres of Tomas Nose

There was a change in the overall lead after the second stage of the GP Tell, which started and finished in Emmetten. The leader after the first stage, Kazakh Assan Bazayev lost 30 seconds on the last climb to Emmetten to the unfettered Slovenian Tomas Nose. This rider won the stage and took the yellow jersey at the same time.
There was another strong impression from the Swiss riders. Today it was the 21 year old Hubert Schwab from Pratteln (near Basel), who with his third place in the stage was the best placed Swiss rider. However he is still only the third best Swiss on the GC, as his teammates Daniel Gysling and Florian Stalder only lost a handful of seconds.
On the other hand, the big loser of the day was another Swiss, Andreas Dietziker. Although in Sarnen he had won two points for the sprint classification after 50 kilometres, he was completely at the end of his energy reserves for the rest of the stage. The hopeful Dietziker, winner of another U23 World Cup race in Germany, the Tour of Berlin, lost more than seven minutes on Nose and dropped down to 62nd place on GC.
During the stage, the riders had to do the climb to Flüeli twice. This very steep climb split the peloton into several groups, however a decisive selection in the stage was not made. So in the final phase, all the groups came back together again. In the last four kilometres the Dutch, the Russian, the Swiss and finally the Slovenian riders proved to be the strongest elements in the peloton. At the summit of the final cat. 2 climb outside Emmetten, the strong Dutchman Stef Clement took the lead and achieved the lead in the GPM overall classification. Tomas Nose overtook Clement on the final kilometre and put an incredible gap of 23 seconds between him and the Dutch rider in the last 1000 metres.
Though Nose already has some excellent results in international races for espoirs in his palmares, and he holds 13th place in the UCI rankings, this stage win in the GP Tell is his first victory this year. After 2001 this is his second participation in the race named after the well known William Tell. The tall athlete measures 189 cm and only weighs 58 kilos. He is a rider with excellent qualities in the mountains and is certainly one of the favourites for the queen stage on Friday around Muoathal over 122 kilometres with one cat. 1 and one cat. 2 climb.
