Nicol finished eighth in the morning's 72-mile road race around Branched Oak Lake, then covered the 12.8-mile time trial course in 27 minutes and 57 seconds to top the USCF Pro I-II category. Christian Davenport of the Lincoln Plating-Lemond cycling team, is the highest-placed Nebraska rider, in sixth place, 1:32 behind Nicol. In the men's Collegiate A race, Dallas Burnum of the Kansas State Cycling team, won the 49-mile race, while the Wildcats beat the University of Minnesota in the team time trial. On day two, Hometown boy Christian Davenport won the final stage but the Lafayette, CO native Kevin Nicol of the Tokyo Joe's Cycling Team held on for the overall victory. Davenport, riding for race host Lincoln Plating-Lemond, broke from the USCF Pro I-II field with two laps remaining. His two-second victory in the 90-minute criterium moved him from fifth to fourth overall and made him the highest-placed Nebraska racer. Nicol's winning margin was 36 seconds over GS Ciao's Andy Edwards. Jon Tarkington of the Vitamin Cottage Cycling team out of Boulder, CO was third, 1:02 behind Nicol.
