Tuesday Night Criterium World Championships

Round 8 of the Tuesday Night Criterium World Championships (TNCWC) fell on a day when the training calendar of every attending rider read PEAK. Attacks in the first half were minimal as the speed of the field was blistering, averaging near 28mph. The strongmen were not breaking away, they were sitting on point attempting to detonate the race with pure speed, but the field managed to stay intact as the first half of the race essentially developed into a lead out for the mid-race prime.

At 30 minutes the prime bell rang, and the sprinters jockeyed for wheels. Into the finish straight, the sprint headed up the right-hand side, Outspokin's Eric Christopherson blew the gutter so clean that he was offered a job on the street maintenance crew. But at the line it was series leader Oglesby grabbing the big points, with Bluemle taking second and Christopherson third.

After the prime sprint the pace dropped off considerably, resulting in a rash of forays off the front, most of which were attended by Earth Fare's junior rocket Brandon McKeever. The Outspokin' foursome of Iwinski, Reed, Christopherson and Swanson also had a strong go, but were eventually reabsorbed.

With 3 to go a gambler prime was called and the field started the windup early. Coming up the straight it was Outspokin's Keith Iwinski that found the line first, followed by Cycle Center's Patrick Meyer and Oglesby. The pace stayed high as the final lap bell rang, the lead out developed as the sprinters shoved their way into the lineup. Up the finish straight the sprint exploded 8 abreast for the line with the fans cheering wildly.

When the tape was reviewed, it was Outspokin's Langston Powell that had the win, followed by Tom Sunday, Eric Christopherson, Brian Bluemle and Brandon McKeever. Chris Stephens claimed the women's top spot.

Bonuses/Relegations: Scott Royce receives one series style point for showing up in a Benz and suit, making us all feel for a moment that we were racing in Europe.
