Schroeder kept the attacks coming for the first 50 minutes of the race, and were chased down by strong riders from Team Monex, Lemond Fitness and Minute Maid/Dasani/La Grange, who launched their own attacks only to be shut down. With 20 minutes to go, the Ironmen went to the front en masse and kept the pace high, rotating through team time trial style, and gobbling up any attempts to escape. With five to go, they raised the pace even more, setting up the sprint for Miguel Meza. Determined efforts to stop the inevitable came from Team Monex's Ken Toman, who is riding strong right now; but with the assembled horsepower of the entire squad, even though Meza unclipped from his pedal on the backstretch in the final lap, the Schroeder Iron team was able to deliver Mike Tillman to victory in the bunch sprint - his third this year.
