Tour of Korea - 2.2Korea, May 4-10, 2006Main Page Results Overall standings Previous Stage Next Stage Stage 2 - May 5: Gwangmyeong Velodrome criterium, 60kmFull Steam Ahead for the Red TrainDrapac Porsche made it two from two when Rob McLachlan took out today’s 60km criterium around the grounds of the massive Speedom Velodrome at Gwang Myeong, southwest of Seoul. At the end of a lackluster stage marred by two very big crashes, Drapac Porsche was able to put all six riders at the front for the final 2km to set up McLachlan, who edged out Tobias Erler of Giant Asia Racing Team and Jang Sun Jae of Sang Moo Cycling Team. McLachlan described the work put in by his team as the best lead out he has ever had and indeed it seemed no other team could match the pace set by Dean Windsor, Mitch Docker, Zak Dempster and Darren Lapthorne. Yellow jersey Stuart Shaw provided the final launching pad for McLachlan on the slightly uphill headwind finishing straight and the big man didn’t let his team mates down. McLachlan is now running at a 50% strike rate since March, winning 7 of his last 14 UCI stages. Erler and Shaw now stand on equal time on the General Classification, while Jang and Mariusz Weisiak (Skil-Shimano) continue their battle for the green jersey. Day Three is a 168km mountain stage from Chuncheong to Hyunnae with forecast for torrential rain certain to make for a difficult day for the field.
