International Cycling Classic - Superweek - NEUSA, July 9-25, 2004Main Page Results Previous Stage Next Stage Stage 8 - July 16: Sportsbook.com Brewers Hill CriteriumBy Kristy Scrymgeour Magen Long (Sportsbook.com) and Mike Sayers (Health Net p/b Maxxis) took out today's superweek races in Brewers Hill and Schlitz Park respectively. In the women's race Long has been attempting to outsprint Tina Pic (Genesis Scuba) all week and finally managed it today to take her first win. In the men's field Sayer descended upon the field with fresh legs today competing in his first race of the series tonight. The men and women raced on different courses today with the women competing earlier in the day at Brewers Hill and the men in the evening at the famous Schlitz Park. The women's course was a six-cornered 0.8-mile dog leg course that has a short hill on one of its straights. After ten laps of the race it was Sarah Tillotson (Athletes By Design) who attacked solo and powered out in front of the bunch for 15 laps, looking like she might even stay away. Along the way she claimed two intermediate sprints but a win was not to be, and she was reeled in with nine laps to go. The pace remained fast for the final laps and with one lap to go Pic was in the lead and maintained it for the entire lap with Long just pipping her on the line to take the win, putting a halt to Pic's stream of bunch sprint win's this week. Taking third place yet again was Christina DeKraay (Team Fuji) who still sits in third place in the overall America's Dairyland women's series, moving that little bit closer to Andrea Hannos (Rona) with every race. Pic still wears the leaders jersey and the Nicole Reinhart sprint jersey.
