Bike Wise International Junior Tour - NEWanganui, New Zealand, September 26-28, 2003Prologue - September 26: Hill Climb Prologue, 2 kmClose finish to prologueBy Alan Messenger Only half a second separated the two fastest riders in the two kilometre prologue hill climb at the start of the Bikewise New Zealand Junior International Tour at Wanganui today. Luke McCarthy, New Zealand’s best prospect for the Tour, stopped the clock at 3 mins 51.40 secs and New Zealand Road and track representative Courtney Jacobsen Black recorded 3 mins 51.97 secs. Seven riders rode the prologue under four minutes, among them two members of the Australian team. Victorian junior time trial champion Mitchell Docker recorded 3 mins 56 secs to claim fifth place with South Australian Mathew Rex one second slower in sixth place. The riders face a hard day tomorrow (Saturday) with a 123 kilometre stage from Wanganui to Hunterville and return. On Sunday, the Tour finishes with a 56k circuit race in Wanganui and a 60k road stage.
