The fast pace of this year's Giro for Elite and Under 23 continued yesterday with the average speed for the stage between Fiesso d'Artico and Asola being just under 47 km/h and the total average just under 46.

The first 50km was at a frantic pace, with each attack being followed by another. At the 50km mark, one group of 17 finally got clear and stayed clear thanks to a haphazard chase, spoiling a chance for the sprinters and causing a change on the overall.

The best we could do was Ben Johnson in a chase group of six coming in at 1'26" on the winner, Nicola del Puppo, who also took the leader's jersey.
