ReportTwo Polish riders - Amateur Marcin Gebka and Pro Jacek Mickiewicz (Mroz) prevented a third stage win of Steffen Wesemann of Team Telekom. On stage 4 of the 50th Peace Tour, leading from Bautzen (Germany) to Nowa Ruda (Poland), the tactics of the Polish riders were perfect. 23 year old Gebka took advantage of the rivalry of the top riders Wesemann and Mickiewicz. "I waited for a long time", he said afterwards, "each one of them concentrated on the other one, and that was my chance."Thousands of Polish fans watched the Peace Race and supported their riders. "Today, all riders from Poland worked together to defend the yellow jersey of Mickiewicz, no matter whether they were Amateurs or Professionals", Hans-Joachim Hartnick, Coach of the German national team, stated afterwards.
