Stage 1 Report
Michel Cornelisse won the first stage of the Teleflextoer on Tuesday. The 172
km stage from Den Bosch to Den Bosch saw the Amsterdammer the fastest sprinter
in a top group of 33 riders. This was the first stage win for Cornelisse since
his return to the peloton.
The Foreldorado Golff rider was suspended last season for drug
taking.Cornelisse: "I sat a long time before winning. I remain thankful for the
help of my team and finally some luck. They got me into a good position for the
sprint. Last weekend he was second behing Anthony Theus in the last stage of
the Ster van Brabant.
45 km from the finish line the group of 33 formed. There were 6
Foreldorado-Golff riders in the group. "John Talen helped me in the sprint",
Michel Cornelisse said. Last year he was involved in a doping affair; at the
beginning
of this season he broke his wrist. "After all the trouble i had, the sun is
shining again".

Stage 2 Report
Same way, same person. The Foreldorado-Golff-teammates of Michel
Cornelisse help him for his final jump in the sprint of the second stage in the
Teleflex Toer. "The rest knew that the only can sprint for the second place",
Michel said. The only little problem was 35 kilometers before the finishline.
John Talen had a flat tyre. Cornelisse: "We wait for him and lost control over
the race. But we had enough time to come back before the finish.
The Foreldorado-Golff-team is glad with Cornelisse; but teamleader Peter
Verbeek want the final overall winner too. On Thursday they have a change in
the time trial for teams over 27 kilometers.

To all those local riders who were looking out for OZ riders
in this race, I am sorry that I cannot as yet get data beyond
Stage 2. It relied on the race organisers sending a fax to
a mate in Hilversum (after he had telephoned them to tell them
that we wanted the "value-added" results). They have chosen
not to do this for a few days.

Notes
The organisers sent us the information for the 7th stage and final overall
standings. It seems that only 49 riders finished. For American and Australian
readers I report their results. It looks as though only 3 Americans and 3
Australians finished in the classification.
