Crowd favorite Kevin Pauwels of Belgium won the Junior title at the Cyclo-Cross World Championships in Zolder Belgium today. Quickly going to the front, he made it into the leading selection of eight riders on the first lap and managed to get a small gap on lap two. He sat up and waited for the chasers to regain contact preferring to share the pacemaking rather than forge on alone.

With 1.5 laps to go, a strong move by Czech Republic rider Jaroslav Kulhavy with excellent blocking by teammate Zdenek Stybar put evryone in trouble, except the young Belgian who quickly countered and rode in to finish with a comfortable gap of 11 seconds. Polish rider Krzysztof Kuzniak passed the two Czechs to take second.
