Course description

Tradition tells that the race always arrives in León breaking all the predictions and before the forecast time. There was a year in which they could hardly paint the finish line. From Valladolid to León, the riders go so fast that they seem to be flying instead of riding. There is always a side wind and Alvaro Pino can testify to that. Many managers see this stage as a very significant one. Last time La Vuelta arrived in León was in 1999, being that stage 217 kilometres long and starting in Salamanca. Marcel Wurst won in that occasion and his average speed was 46, 569 kilometres an hour. A higher average speed is predicted this year.
