Description

While some riders will be thinking about the last two stages of this Vuelta 2001, Abantos and Madrid, some others will be aware of the last important opportunity this stage means to achieve a victory. These facts guarantees a tense atmosphere from the start in Cuenca and real fight when they arrive in Guadalajara. As a reference point, in the 1999 edition they started in Bronchales on the way to Guadalajara. The first breakaway was attempted on the first kilometre, the second one on the 14th kilometre, the third one on the 25th and the fourth one on the 42nd . They rode at an average speed of 44 kilometres per hour. If things are similar to previous years, the riders will "fly" again, though their strength was about to fail them in those last days.
