Nijs still on top

Belgian rider Sven Nijs (Rabobank) continues his unstoppable run in the SuperPrestige series, winning the fourth round today in Gieten ahead of his compatriots Bart Wellens (Spaar Select) and Tom Vannoppen (Vlaanderen-T-Interim). Nijs finished 7 seconds clear of Wellens after another hard fought race, and now is well on top of the SuperPrestige points table at the halfway mark in the eight-round series.

Nijs rode hard from the start today, opening up a gap on the field with only Sven Vanthourenhout and Richard Groenendaal able to follow. By the halfway point in the race, Nijs had dropped these two riders and continued ahead on his own. Only Wellens could come back to him at the end, but needed a further 7 seconds to catch Nijs.

The next round of the SuperPrestige is scheduled for December 8 in Hoogstraten, Belgium.
