The 2001 Tour de Snowy reverts to a Cooma start for the second occasion in its short four year history. The inaugural tour in 1998, commenced from Cooma but in 2001, the race will begin with a fast 30 kilometre circuit race.

Conducted in the heart of the CBD and around Centennial Park in Cooma, the venue is ideal for the spectators and has been responsible for some great criteriums in the past. This will be the third circuit utilised at Cooma, and probably the best of all.

Alison Wright, the powerful rider from Canberra and racing for the AIS team, was last year's stage winner when she slid across the line after a horrific fall 15 metres before the finish line when she was forced into the barricades.

The circuit will have a little dog leg after the finish line which will make the race that little bit tougher. This circuit was to be utilised last year but the dog leg was eliminated due to the wet conditions.
