Gilles Maignan wins A travers le MorbihanFrenchman Gilles Maignan (Ag2R) has won the 12th edition of A travers le Morbihan, the 10th round of the Coupe de France. Maignan beat Australian Stuart O'Grady (Credit Agricole) and Spaniard Ruben Diaz de Cerio (Euskaltel) in the 184.5 kilometre race around Billio and Plumelec, containing 10 ascents of the côte du Cadoudal. A group of 13 rdiers, including the Maignan and O'Grady escaped in the first few kilometres, holding a 2'45 gap by the time they reached the finishing circuit. With 6 laps to go, this had grown to 3'50, enough it seemed to stay away. Back in the peloton, a group of 7 including Brochard, Brard and Christophe Capelle counter-attacked with 5 laps to go, and succeeded in pulling in all but four of the breakaways. Maignan was caught by O'Grady in the final kilometres, but managed to hold him off to take the win. Brochard kept his lead in the Coupe de France.
