This Swiss National Event is an invitation only race consisting of
two separate mountain time trials, each of 6.85 km. Each time trial
involves riding from the edge of Lake Geneva and ascending through the
city until the riders reach the highest point.
This year's race was won by Australian Cadel Evans (Saeco), fresh of
his victory in the Brixia Tour. Evans won both stages, with José Luis
Rubiera (US Postal Service) finishing second each time, giving him second
overall. Third place went to Saeco's Laurent Dufaux, while recent Tour
de France winner Lance Armstrong managed 8th place. Evans will be happy
with that, seeing as the TdF is one of his goals to ride in the future.
