The Agreeable Addiscombe Cyclo Cross took place on Sunday at the popular Frylands Wood Scout Campsite at Addington near Croydon. The original organiser, Paul Tunnell was sidelined with a badly broken leg and his two novice clubmates who stepped in at the last minute to run the event were thankful for the infrastructure that the London League Cyclo Cross Association have in place to help event organisers.
The senior event was won by London League series leader Stuart Blunt (Corridori) who made his escape on the first of the 9 laps from the promoting club's Steve Bayliss, Matt Spurgin and Blunt's Corridori teammate Brian Curtis.
The next 4 laps saw a close battle between the three chasing riders with Curtis eventually moving up to 2nd with Spurgin 3rd and Bayliss leading the Addiscombe team to victory in 4th. Mick Bell (London Fire Brigade) rode to victory in the veterans competition and Rachel Brown(Northampton Cycling), having made the trip over from Canada just a couple of days before, held off Stephanie Betts and Abigail Armstrong to claim the womens prize. Alan Duncan continued his run of good form to collect the junior award ahead of Chris Ansell and Craig Martin.
