Surrey League Revolutions Five Day - NEGreat Britain, August 17-21, 2001Main page Results Previous stage Photos Stage 4 - August 20: Chiddingfold, 99 miles/158 kmButler wins stage; day five set for thrilling finaleBy Gerry McManus, cyclingnews.com correspondent Gethin Butler (Gore Bike Wear) took the lone win on stage four, some 20 seconds in front of his former breakaway companions. The overall top three on G.C. were left to contest the three-up sprint for second with Paddy Moriarty (Gore Bike Wear) taking the verdict from Gary Dodd (Sigma RT) and Timmy Barry (London Irish-J Browne). The race pattern was one of failed breakaways all day until around twenty miles to go, when Butler attacked, taking the trio with him. Richie Cahill (Gore Bike Wear) was a noticeable absentee, when he missed the vital move as the gaps opened up further down the line. Although Butler took back some time on the stage, he is still two minutes behind going into the final day on the Ashdown Forest circuit. The 71-mile stage includes climbing "the wall" on a number of occasions. If Butler is on form, then two minutes might not be enough against this man with home advantage. There is only eight seconds separating first to third and it is more likely that the overall winner will come from here. Dodd has certainly impressed the Irish riders with his gutsy riding and continuing strength but they are hoping that stage five will be one too many for him.
