Sixty six riders rugged up at the start line, to race on a newly designed club level course at Blue Range Forest. Blue Range is better known for the tough technical and unforgiving course that has been used for National level races for the past two years. However, the new course designed and built by CORC member Paul Cole is intended to be less intimidating and more accessible to riders of all standards, and judging by the success of the race today, has hit its mark. The wet conditions out on the course added an extra element of challenge for the riders, with energy sapping mud abundant on the course, and riders having to concentrate that little extra on corners and descents. In the Senior Men's race Richard Bontjer rode strongly to lead the race for the first four laps before mechanical problems in the form of a broken chain put an end to his race. With Bontjer out of the race, Luis Severino made easy work of the muddy conditions to take the race. Melanie McConnell made a welcome return to cross country racing to win the Senior Women's race.
