49th Herald Sun Tour - 2.4Australia, October 5-15, 2000Main page Results Previous stage John Lieswyn's diary Stage 11 - October 12: Rochester ITT, 25 kmWohlberg increases lead - justThe 11th stage of the Sun Tour was the one that Canadian Eric Wohlberg (Australia Post) was looking forward to the most, the 25 kilometre individual time trial in Rochester. With just four stages to come after this one, a good performance in the TT was critical in order to consolidate his GC position. On a windy day in Rochester that suited small riders of Wohlberg's type, he did just that, but it was not in the end enough to give him an easy run to the finish in Geelong on Sunday. Wohlberg beat his nearest rival, Eugen Wacker by just 6 seconds, putting him 22 seconds in front of the rider from Kyrgyzstan. In third place was the consistent Scott Moninger, who a few days ago failed in his bid to crack Wohlberg and the rest of the bunch on the stage to Mt Hotham. However, over the coming days the battle for first will be between Wohlberg and Wacker and the Australia Post team will have to fight hard to keep their man in yellow.
