87th Tour de France - Grand Tour

France, July 1 - 23, 2000

Report & Results   Previous Stage

Stage 21- July 23: Paris - champs-Elysees, 138 km

Start time: 14:00
Estimated finish time: 17:17

At last, the stage that everyone is eager for - the final parade around Paris. No more hills, no more mountains and no more time trials. The only thing for the yellow jersey wearer to avoid is a serious crash, but he is always well protected by his teammates. A short, flat course sees the action hot up in the final 11 laps of the Champs-Elysées in front of a million or more spectators. Defintely a sprinter's stage, although there will be every attempt made at a solo win.

The weather is once again perfect for the Gande Finale - sunny, with temperatures around 24 degrees, and a light E-NE wind. The wind will be behind the riders along the Place de la Concorde, meaning that the final sprint will be extremely fast. Those that missed out yesterday: McEwen, Vainsteins, and Blijlevens will try to get their noses in front of Erik Zabel today.
