Stage 3 - August 28: Montoro-Valdepeņas, 198.4 km

Stage three is once again an uphill start after the riders transferred to the start in Montoro today. Again there is one category 3 climb to be overcome, the 950 m Puerto de Valderepisa at kilometre 79. Following that, there is a gradual descent/flat run into the finish in Valdepeņas.

Valdepeņas is located in the province of Ciudad Real, in the southeastern end of the Castilian region. It has a population of about 25,000. The climate is typically parched and hot, with temperatures of up to 45 degrees celsius being reached in summer, and there is very little rain.
