The national capital of Australia, Canberra is the location of Round 1 of the
Elite Women's World Cup for 1999. There are 21 teams entered and the field includes
the best riders in women's cycling.
The race begins at 10.30 and will finish around 13.05. The riders have to negotiate 20 laps of a 5.1 kilometre parcours for a total distance of 102 kilometres. The circuit is on the south side of Lake Burley Griffen, which separates the main business sector of Canberra from the Parliamentary area. The undulating circuit passes within 1 kilometre of the National Parliament and winds through the Embassy district of Canberra.
