San José - San Isidro de El General, 129 kms

Report:

Ecuadorian Ramiro Calpa became a Mexican hero on the ninth stage of the Vuelta Ciclista a Costa Rica, where he attacked at the mountain prize Quebradores, 3 120 meters above sea level. The only one who dared follow down into the Valle de el General was Mexican Miguel Arroyo, third in the GC only twelve seconds behind leading Jorge Martinez. The chase was disorganized. Costa Rican José Adrián Bonilla came in with some others to take the second spot in the GC, 1.28 behind the Mexican. The Ecuadorian, who is far behind in the GC, received a warm thanks from the Mexican by winning the stage and thereby entering his country into the UCI rankings.
