Café de Costa Rica-Pizza Hut and Jaisa-El Globo are the local teams in the 35th edition of the "Vuelta Ciclista a Costa Rica". They each have two squads in the race and are expected to "carry the flag" in the race. Colombians are always feared in this part of the world, but the teams here do not have any of the nation's top riders on their rosters. However, given the normal Colombian dominance they will surely be there in the decisive moments. Guatemala, on the other hand comes with a real national team with Vuelta a Guatemala winner, Fernando Escobar as the top name. Canel's Turbo from Mexico also put on some good riders in Gregorio Ladino and ex pro Miguel Arroyo. Other nations paticipating: Germany Ecuador and Honduras. Moldavia with pro's Ruslan Ivanov, Igor Pugacu and Youri Sourkov withdrew late as did Venezuela and Iran.
