Brief:
Wilfried Peeters won his final race of the Belgian season. He won alone
in a very fast race (average speed of 47.410 km/h). It was his first
win for the season. "Because of the heavy rain I felt like staying in
bed." Three laps before the end Mapei-Bricobi riders Tom Steels
and Bart Leysen attacked out of an earlier group which was away.
Then a smaller group of 12 entering the final lap. Peeters was not
considered the quickest of this group but probably the strongest.
With German Andreas Beikirch he attacked. He then dropped the German
in the last km to take the 64th win from his Mapei team for the season.
