During clay model development, a 1:1 scale model is necessary to validate the styling, functionality and ergonomics. There are five phases: Phase 1 - blocks of an easy-to-shape material are cut, prepared and fit over a correctly set-up frame; Phase 2 - the style designer and the model builder check out the design surfaces to determine their aesthetics and functionality; Phase 3 - the model with its defined surfaces is plastered and polished; Phase 4 - the model is painted; and Phase 5 - the model is completed with all the equipment that will be fitted on actual mass production units.
