Project Frankenbike: Cyclo-cross
on a bare bones budget
 |
The 'Swiss Army' tyres roll well on tar and dirt
roads. The double-radius adapter for the brake is essential to translate the
short, high-force cable pull of a road bike lever into the longer-travel,
lower-force pull required by a V-brake. Without the adapter the brakes would
be hopelessly spongy and need the pads to be unfeasibly close to the rim
or you'd just run out of lever travel.
