60th Tour of Somerville
Images by Zui Hanafusa/www.miyashojicycling.org
- A
delighted Jonas Carney (Prime Alliance) takes out the 60th Tour of Somerville
from Jeff Hopkins (Jittery Joe's). Unfortunately for Australian Hopkins, he
was beaten into second place twice in as many days.
- Reversal
of fortune - after being beaten into second by teammate Laura Van Gilder
(Saturn) the previous day, Sarah Uhl (Saturn) gets one back in the Mildred
Kugler Women's Open.
- Cat 2
winner David Wiswell from Easten, CT, was a convincing winner over Jared
Babik and Michael Friedman.

Wangerin (left) come in second and third behind her.
- The women's
podium - (from l to r) Jenn Wangerin (Team Jamba Juice), Sherri Stedje
(Best of the Bay) and Kelly Benjamin (Athletes by Design).
- One lap
to go! Jason McCartney (7up/Maxxis) pulls hard at the front trying to
leadout teammates Hayden Godfrey and John Lieswyn, with U.S. Postal, and three-time
Quad Cities champion Robbie Ventura in the middle.
- Hayden Godfrey
(7up/Maxxis) takes the sprint in front of a hard chasing Jason Waddell
(Mathis Brothers) and Peter Hanna (Bianchi/Grand Performance). A touch of
a pedal by someone in turn 7 of 8 caused a major pile-up, taking out many
of the riders behind Godfrey in the previous photo.
- The men's
podium - (from l to r) Jason Waddell (Mathis Brothers), Hayden Godfrey
(7up/Maxxis), Peter Hanna (Bianchi/Grand Performance).

shortly after by Gerry Bowditch (bikeshop.uk.com), Daniel Martin (CC Giro)
and Pete Scott (Swindon Wheelers).
- Daniel Martin (CC
Giro) pounced just before the line to take victory from his breakaway
companion William Bjergfelt (Saracen).

from the other 3 in the break.

a recent illness.
- Local hero
and expectant father, Travis Brown (Trek/VW All Stars) had a strong ride among
friends and family.

views were around every corner as the racers headed further towards the
town of Silverton.
- Danielson
(Saturn) and Miller (Trek/VW All Stars) were eventually the only two left
in our original break as Mike Carter dropped out of the lead group.
- Finally,
it was only Danielson as the leaders headed up Coal Bank Pass.
- Danielson
(Saturn) wins!!
