The national series points are collated by adding a riders best four results from the five round series, with Roy's best four results of three wins and a fourth slightly better than second place getter Stuart Houltham from Palmerson North, whose best four results were four second placings. Commonwealth Games representative Michael Northcott finished the elite men's national series in third. The final race was not only valuable for determining the series champions but for the elite men and women competitors it was also offered valuable UCI points and prize money. Roy, who while not riding his bike is studying at Otago University, led the 40 kilometre race from start to finish to ensure he achieved the maximum benefits on offer from the race. USA-based Kiwi Jenny Smith won the elite women's race, meaning she takes maximum UCI points as she prepares for her North American campaign starting next month. As this was Smith's only national series race, which left the consistent Fiona MacDermid with the national series women's title.
