This 16 day trip visits 10 stages of the Tour de France together with some of the most breathtaking country in the world. You will be able to follow all the critical stages of the race, with or without your bike, as well as having ample opportunities to sight-see and experience the rich culture of France. Neil Stephens to accompany our Trip Who better to interpret and host the Tour than an Australian cyclist who has ridden it seven times? Legendary super-domestique Neil Stephens will accompany the trip to provide a unique insight into the world's greatest sporting event. Brief Itinerary After collection from the airport in Paris, we will spend the night in the French capital, including a welcome dinner that evening. The next day we go directly to Grenoble at base of the Alps to see our first stages of the 2001 Tour de France, including the stage finish at Aix les Bains, the 21 corners of the famous Alpe d'Huez and the Mountain Time Trial to Chamrousse. During the first Tour rest day it's onto Lourdes in the rugged Pyrenees, where the battle for control of the Tour de France resumes with three crucial mountain top finishes in three days. We spend the second Tour rest day in Lourdes and then head for Bourges to visit the famous Loire Valley and see two stages including the final time Trial from Montlucon to St Amand Montrond. On Saturday we go to beautiful Paris via Orlean where we visit the stage start and see the final wearer of the Yellow Jersey. We spend the next two nights in Paris where we will witness the finale of the 2001 Tour de France followed by a goodbye dinner at a local restaurant.
