Sunday, November 5, 2000, 11:30 - 13:00

The Newcastle circuit race is a new event for the Cycle Classic this year and will be based around the previous criterium circuit.

Staged in the centre of Newcastle, the race circuit will be expanded a block each way with the race doubled in length. The cyclists will now race 32 laps of a circuit featuring Hunter Street Mall, Bolton Street, Scott Street and Hunter Street.

The finish will be in the same location as the criterium circuit and the field will be under immense pressure from the very outset.

The race will also have some excellent vantage spots and will coincide with several other major attractions in the Newcastle City on the day. The second round of the Singapore Trishaw Grand Prix will be staged as well.

The circuit will be well suited to the fast and strong criterium style riders such as Rumsas, Koerts, Hunt and Van Heeswijk, who have all won in Newcastle.

After the completion of the race the cyclists will then head to Warners Bay for a criterium race.
