Cross Out Crohn's Morning-After

Ewing Park, Des Moines, Iowa, October 3, 2004

Lee Venteicher (Cyclefarm.com) had a little steam left over from Saturday night's race and pulled out another sprint over Cam Kirkpatrick (QCP-Trek) at Ewing Park in the 'Cross Out Crohn's: Morning-After' presented by Jacobson Companies and DMOS/Mortgage Solutions racing team.

After a hard race on Saturday night, racers were surprised with an unforgiving loop around the park including switchbacked climbs, a water crossing, and very little terrain to fully recover on. After a lap and a half, the field was shattered with Venteicher, Kirkpatrick and Kevin Hankens (Alan Factory) taking the lead.

Venteicher and Kirkpatrick proceeded to power over the course with Hankens chasing. Going into the final water crossing, Venteicher opened a small lead, but Kirkpatrick closed the gap for the final climb to the finish line. With a 100 meter sprint to the line, Venteicher closed the deal with Kirkpatrick taking second and Cully Todd (Cannondale) fourth.
