For the sprint race the riders were seeded according to last year'sw Norwegian Cup standings and divided into groups with six riders in each. The two first riders in each heat goes on to the next level. All heat winners were awarded two bonus seconds for the general qualification and in the finals the bonuses were 12, 9, 6, 4 and 2 seconds.
