Quadranti regains lead

Today's stage of Giro delle Regioni was over 139km, with a Cat 3, Cat 2 and the Cat 1 climb of Monte Serra. The action started on the first climb with a group of 15 followed by a group of 35 going clear, causing us great concern as the Australians all missed it. David Pell then Ashley Humbert and David McPartland made up for this when they went with the next attack as soon as the big group was brought back. Over the cat 2 climb a group of 20 remained clear with Ashley Humbert in there for the Australians. They got to the base of Monte Serra with 45 seconds advantage as the favourites broke clear of the main bunch. Ashley was unable to stay with them but fought on for a respectable 38th place on the stage. The tussle for the race lead proved interesting, with Quadranti winning the stage and taking the lead overall. 8 riders retired and 9 came in out of the time limit.
