Berglund claims another win

Dave Berglund secured another win in the Peel Cycling Clubs Criterium Series held at Pinjarra last weekend. Berglund, competing in the premier grade, was tested all the way by teenager Raymond Loly who attacked early and create the initial break from the pack. The remainder of the field split under the pressure with a group of five riders contesting the minor placings. Berglund controlled the final lap to take the victory over a valiant effort from Loly. Further back Andrew Crack slipped into third spot while newly promoted junior Wade Longworth managed fourth ahead of a ‘rusty’ Daniel Gray.

Once again B Grade fielded a strong line up with new member Oscar Thompson riding his first criterium. In perfect conditions the field stayed together for half the distance before riders dropped off the back one by one with the final sprint contested by five riders. In the wash up Adam Farrell was back in the winners circle pushed all the way by Thompson finishing just ahead of Kelly Gray third with Paul Slocombe fourth.

C Grade saw the Club President in top gear with a polished performance splitting the field early on to finish comfortably ahead of Mick Veljacich second with Tom Atkinson third.
