Kannemeyer keeps lead

Team Barloworld-Valsir's Tiaan Kannemeyer won the points jersey in stage 3a of the Giro del Capo today and will continue to wear the leaders pink jersey tomorrow for stage 4. Kannemeyer remains in 1st position in the General Classification as team mate Ryan Cox won the King of the Mountains Jersey again and remains in 2nd position in the overall GC.
"It is difficult when people are asking you how you feel competing against your team mate and it is always hard to answer as we are a team and work as a team, but really it's just a matter of may the best man win on the day," Kannemeyer said.
Konica Minolta's Martin Velits won today's stage after getting away from the peloton on the final climb and winning by over a minute. Velits twin brother Peter Velits, also of Konica Minolta, won the Most Aggressive Jersey today and will wear the white Jersey in tomorrow's time trial.
Recycling Team's Dean Downing crashed on the final decent travelling at over 60km per hour but escaped miraculously unscathed and still managed to finish in second place.
Today's second part of the tour, Stage 3b, a 40km Criterium around Tyger Valley, was cancelled at the last minute due to safety reasons. For the general public's purpose, the riders still put on a performance and raced the circuit for half an hour. The results of the stage were not counted so the GC still stands the same as after Stage 3a.
Tomorrow's stage is a 5.5km Time Trial up Signal Hill.
