Australian team report

After an ordinary day for us yesterday at the GP Liberazione, things turned with Peter Dawson winning the first stage of the Giro delle Regioni. Our team was Aaron Kemps (AIS/QAS), Bernard Sulzberger Richard Moffatt and Ashley Humbert (AIS/NSWIS), Mark Jamieson and Peter Dawson (AIS/WAIS). The course was over 136km of undulating country with a sharp hill on the 2 finishing laps. Peter went away with a group which lost, then added members before becoming established with 12 riders. None of the Italian or Slovenian team were in this break and they could not bring it back. In the sprint for the line over 2 minutes clear of the main bunch, Peter won comfortably, taking the leader's jersey.
