Post-Tour Criteriums (1) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The first of the post-Tour criteriums took place at Lisieux, Normandy, France last night (Monday 24 July). Dante Rezze, who went down a ravine in the tragic Tour de France crash was a welcome sight in the field. "Dante," said Laurent Jalabert, another participant, "You're here, but it was said you wanted to stop bike racing?" "it's true, I did," he replied, "but now I'm keen to ride again." Cautious rides were also seen from Eric Boyer, injured in the left hand and Thierry Laurent, gradually getting back into shape after abandoning on the Tour stage to Revel. Other participants included Virenque, Lemarchand, Arnould, Seigneur, Pensec, Bourguignon, Durand, Madouas and Bourgeot. The race proper was preceded by a "time trial" on the 2.150km circuit so that the fans could see each of their heroes alone. This part of the proceedings was set off by a ride from a one-legged amateur, Jean-Yves Lanoe of the CPAM de Creil club. The result of the race proper: 1. Virenque 2. Seigneur 3. Madouas 4. N. Jalabert 5. L. Jalabert Today the circus moved on to Callac, for an afternoon race which promised a richer field, including L. Jalabert, Virenque, Pantani, Chiappucci, Rominger, Tchmil, Seigneur, Madouas, Duclos-Lassalle, Rue etc.....++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 4.
