Brilliant junior u/19 rider John Pollock rode strongly to progressively shatter the field finishing on his own 2 1/2 minutes clear of promising newcomer Jeff Florence with a further 3 1/2 minutes to road sprinter Julian Blackwell.
Matt Green proved to be too dominant in the u/17 titles following on from his recent win of the Penrith Panthers tour. Green hurt the field on the final ascent, getting away briefly only to be caught again, howver green attacked again coming in clear of the bunch. Race favourite Gene Bates never recovered from the attack to roll in behing the bunch.
The under 17 women proved again how talented young Rachael Linke and Joanne Robinson are. Clearing from the field after the first lap, Robinson and Linke Stayed together before an attack on the final lap saw Linke use her climbing ability to establish a 10 second gap from Robinson. Linke and Robinson leave tomorrow to compete at the world junior championships.
The Womens races were poorly attended although some courageous rides were seen.
