Brief:Rik Verbrugghe, Johan Verstrepen, David Delme and Tony Bracke were the most prominent names in an early break of 11 riders. They never really got more than 30 seconds on the bunch. The 6-day pair of Etienne de Wilde and Matthew Gilmore rode very hard and the peloton was complete going into the finale. The first to attack was Hans De Meester but it never materialised into anything. The race came down to the sprint and it was Jean-Pierre Heynderickx who was the fastest. He told the press at the end of the race: "My form is very good. Up to the last week I have been in the top 10 fifteen times. This win has been coming for a while.Heusden, 169 kms:1.
